Abstract
This document describes how to download and install IBM® Packaging Utility, Version 1.3.2

 
Download Description
Use IBM Packaging Utility to generate a new repository for packages, copy packages to a new repository, and delete packages that are no longer needed.
This release can be used for an initial installation or as a fix pack to update an existing installation of one of these versions of Packaging Utility.

Prerequisites

Refer to this section for hardware, software, or other requirements for installing this fix pack.

You must have internet access to update software or to download the packages listed below on this page.

Before you can install this fix pack, you must have IBM Installation Manager installed. For more information, see the Installation instructions below.
 
 
Installation Instructions

Use IBM Installation Manager to install IBM Packaging Utility. Installation Manager is included in the Packaging Utility download packages, or if you already have Packaging Utility installed, use your existing installation of Installation Manager to update the packages.


Update Packaging Utility

If Packaging Utility is installed and you are using this release as a fix pack, do one of the following.

Use the update capability of Installation Manager to update Packaging Utility. (Note: Installation Manager must be able to access www.ibm.com.)
  1. Run Installation Manager.
  2. Enable updates in the Installation Manager. In the Updates area of Installation Manager Preferences, select Search for Installation Manager update.
  3. On the start page of the Installation Manager, click Update.

Download and install version 1.3.2 as a fix pack. (Note: Do this if the computer does not have access to the internet.)
  1. Download the appropriate fix pack from the FTP or Download Director (DD) site found in the Download package table below.
  2. Extract the compressed file to an appropriate directory. For example, choose to extract to C:\temp.
  3. Add the fix pack repository location in Installation Manager:
    1. Start IBM Installation Manager.
    2. On the Start page of Installation Manager, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens.
    3. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
    4. In the Add repository window, browse to or enter the file path to the repository.config file, which is located in the directory where you extracted the compressed files. For example, enter C:\temp\ or C:\temp\repository.config and then click OK.
  4. On the main page of Installation Manager, click on Install or Update. The fix pack will be installed.

Install Packaging Utility

If you are installing Packaging Utility for the first time, do one of the following.

If IBM Installation Manager is not currently installed, complete the following steps:
  1. Download the platform-appropriate package, which includes both the installer and Packaging Utility fix pack, from the platform-appropriate download site. Find the link in the Download package table below.
  2. Extract the compressed file into a temporary directory. For example, choose to extract to C:\temp.
  3. Change directory to C:\temp\disk_*\InstallerImage_* and run; install.exe (Windows), or install (AIX/Linux/Solaris).
  4. The Installation Manager installer will start.
  5. Follow the wizard pages to install the Installation Manager. Installation Manager will start when the installation has completed.
  6. Add the fix pack's repository location in IBM Installation Manager.
    1. On the start page of Installation Manager, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens.
    2. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
    3. In the Add repository window, browse to or enter the file path to the repository.config file, which is located in the directory where you extracted the compressed files. For example, enter C:\temp\ or C:\temp\repository.config and then click OK.
  7. On the start page of Installation Manager, click Install. The fix pack will be installed.

If Installation Manager is installed, download the Packaging Utility ZIP file and use your existing installation of Installation Manager to install it:
  1. Download the appropriate fix pack from the FTP or Download Director (DD) URL found in the Download package table below.
  2. Extract the compressed file to an appropriate directory. For example, choose to extract to C:\temp.
  3. Add the fix pack repository location in Installation Manager:
    1. Start IBM Installation Manager.
    2. On the start page, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens.
    3. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
    4. In the Add repository window, browse to or enter the file path to the repository.config file, which is located in the directory where you extracted the compressed files. For example, enter C:\temp\ or C:\temp\repository.config and then click OK.
  4. On the start page of Installation Manager, click Install. The fix pack will be installed.

You can download the fix pack using either Download Director or FTP from the table below. If you are unable to use either of these methods, you can download the fix pack using HTTP from the following URL:
