In October of 2008 IBM announced the End of Marketing of the ClearCase LT product. At the same time IBM announced End of Service of ClearCase LT version 7.0 to become effective on April 30, 2010.

The following IBM Rational product offerings included ClearCase LT v7.0 as a product feature:
  • IBM Rational Software Modeler, versions 7.0.x.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0, and as bundled in IBM Rational Data and Application Modeling Bundle)
  • IBM Rational Systems Developer, versions 7.0.x.x
  • IBM Rational Software Architect, versions 7.0.0.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0)
  • IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software versions 7.0.0.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0)
  • IBM Rational Functional Tester 7.0.x.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0)
  • IBM Rational Performance Tester 7.0.x.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0)
  • IBM Rational Manual Tester 7.0.x.x (including as bundled in IBM Rational Professional Bundle v7.0)


These versions can still be used with ClearCase LT v7 on a supported basis. Where ClearCase LT was included with these products, the end of availability of support for the ClearCase LT feature is not determined by the announced ClearCase LT product End of Service date. Instead, it will be determined by the End of Service dates of the products that included ClearCase LT as a feature. The End of Service dates for these products have not yet been announced. They are all subject to the new Enhanced Software Lifecycle Policy that was announced in February 2008. This means that their End of Service dates can be no sooner than five years after their General Availability dates.

Newer versions of these products (v7.5 and higher of the modeling products, v8.0 and higher of the testing products and Professional Bundle v8.0) no longer include ClearCase LT. The use of ClearCase LT is not supported with the newer versions. Entitlement to the newer versions no longer includes an entitlement to use ClearCase LT. If you have been using ClearCase LT with the older versions, your preparations for adopting the newer versions must include preparation for migrating to a replacement configuration management solution such as full ClearCase or Rational Team Concert. A program is in place to provide an attractive migration path from ClearCase LT to full ClearCase. You should work with your Rational sales representative to help determine your path forward.
