Problem
This technote identifies an issue that can occur in IBM Rational ClearCase that causes VOB server processes to sporadically crash on Windows and reports messages, vob_server.exe(5272) exited with status -107374181, in the logs.
Symptom
VOB server processes are sporadically crashing on Windows and messages such as the following are reported in the ClearCase logs:
2009-09-04T17:10:38-07:00 albd_server(1608): Server vob_server.exe(1780)
exited with status -1073741819
2009-09-04T15:20:48-07:00 albd_server(1608): Server vob_server.exe(3104)
exited with status -1073741819

exception was caught!"
There may also be an accumulation of vob_server.xxxx.dmp files accumulating in the <ClearCase install directory>\var\log directory.
Cause
This issue has been identified as a product defect under APAR PK86529 .
This defect is occurring when the Deferred Source Container Deletion is activated and set to yes.

Resolving The Problem
Defect APAR PK86529 has been resolved in ClearCase version 7.1.1.
WORKAROUND
The present workaround is to turn off Deferred Source Container Deletion.
Set the DeferredSourceContainerDeletion=No
