How do you access the data in the VT terminal's presentation space with FTE using IBM® Rational® Functional Tester (RFT)?
Cause
When you use the VT terminal, the VT screen, unlike the 5250 or 3270 presentation space, is presented as one large plane.
Using the Verification Point and Action Wizard with the Drag Hand Selection Test Object Finder, selects the entire screen or just the first line of the presentation space.
Answer
To make use of the information on the screen in your functional testing, you need to use character verification points.
When you select the Verification Point and Action Wizard, you would Select the Test Object Browser instead of the Drag hand Selection to choose the object. The test objects are displayed in the Select Test Object window.
If you need to choose information from the presentation space, you would navigate to Java domain/SplitPane/Terminal/Screen/Field_1_1. Under Field_1_1, you will see the Char_1_1_1 and more representing all of the text fields on the terminal screen.
You can decide how you want to use these characters as the test objects with the selections in the Wizard.
