SupportPac CH51: CICS Transaction Gateway - Simple Request Monitor Utility

Download

Abstract

SupportPac CH51 provides a simple monitoring utility based on the CICS TG request monitoring exits. It is designed for auditing purposes or to analyze performance related problems.

Download Description

This SupportPac was last updated on September 29, 2014. See details below. Upgrade to this new release as soon as you can to take advantage of the latest updates.

The utility generates a simple one-line message for each External Call Interface (ECI) request that flows through the Gateway. This message lists the total response time for Gateway processing along with the response time of the CICS call and individual details about each request.

The output of the exit is kept to a minimum so that the performance impact is as low as possible. If a low latency logging destination is used (such as JES) then it should have negligible impact on throughput or response time. In addition, logging can be dynamically enabled and disabled though the control of Gateway exception trace events.

Possible uses:
Auditing or analysis of performance related problems

Skill level required:
System administrator with understanding of the configuration of the CICS Transaction Gateway (CICS TG)

New in previous release (1.7.1):
  • Report full XID
  • Fixed close command closing Gateway stdout
  • Fixed corruption in logging messages

What's new in this release?
  • Updated to support CICS TG V9.x
