IBM recommends that you use version 1.0.0.2 of the CICS Explorer which is the latest General Availability (GA) version. This SupportPac was updated to version 1.02 on 14 October 2009 to provide support for version 1.0.0.2 of the CICS Explorer. See details of version 1.02 and upgrade to this new version as soon as you can to take advantage of the latest updates.
The IBM CICS Explorer is a new graphical tooling interface for CICS, providing significantly enhanced levels of usability and integration, available for use with both Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. The CICS Explorer enables you to create customizable task-oriented views. It is intended to act as the tooling integration point for the CICS runtime and to provide a rich set of CICS views, data, methods, and features that are easily extensible by IBM, vendors, and clients.
This SupportPac provides a Gateway daemons view and a CICS connections view in the CICS Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) perspective of the CICS Explorer. You can view the status and activity of one or more Gateway daemons running on the z/OS platform. Use the Gateway daemons view to see an overall status of one or more Gateway daemons. Use the CICS connections view to see the connectivity between CICS servers and one or more Gateway daemons.
Switching to the CICS TG perspective gives fast access to the new views. Each view includes the attributes considered to be immediately useful. You can add further attributes or remove existing attributes as you require. You can see the full set of attributes in the Properties window, where the attributes are grouped into predefined categories.
The ability to create a composite perspective is a powerful feature of the CICS Explorer. The views provided by the CICS TG plug-ins for CICS Explorer can be added to other perspectives. The CICS TG perspective can be customized to add other CICS Explorer views.
Support from IBM CICS TG and IBM CICS tools CICS TG and selected IBM CICS tools complement and enrich the base data and tasks provided by the CICS Explorer with their own views, tasks, and data to support disciplines. This SupportPac provides an extension to CICS TG, to enable it to provide views of CICS TG daemon activity and associated CICS connections within the CICS Explorer. Installation Instructions
To download the SupportPac:
Click on the FTP link below and save the compressed file to your local machine.
Extract the saved file to a temporary directory on your local machine. This will create the necessary installation, documentation and license files. Note that the installation file is used directly by the CICS Explorer installer.
Consult the SupportPac ReadMe document (link below) for details on how to install the plug-in in the CICS Explorer.
Note: This SupportPac (CS05) supports both Microsoft Windows and Linux versions of the CICS Explorer version V1.2 only.
