Description of changes to the Telephony policy in Sametime 8.0.2

| | | | Question | | What are the changes to the Lotus Sametime 8.0.2 telephony policy? | | | | | Answer | | In Sametime 8.0.2, there were additions made to the "Allow Telephony" section of the policy that also impact instant meetings. The "Allow Telephony" section of the Sametime Policy controls how third-party telephony integrations are rendered within the Sametime Connect client.
Prior to Sametime 8.0.2, the "Allow Telephony" policy option only allowed Yes or No. Therefore, the telephony features provided by third-party telephony integrations were either on or off.
Sametime 8.0.2 provides a finer level of control over the telephony features that are available when Connect clients are integrated with a third-party telephony service provider. Only Sametime 8.0.2 clients or higher that are connecting to a Sametime 8.0.2 server or later server can read this new policy setting. The new settings are as shown below. The default server setting is configured to "No".

There is a client-side hotfix available for Sametime Connect 8.0 and 8.0.1 clients that allows these older client versions to read the new telephony policy on the server. Replication of STPolicy.nsf
If a Sametime Connect 8.0.2 or Connect 8.0/8.0.1 client with hotfixes is using a Sametime server that is not at least version 8.0.2, it is possible to replicate the new telephony policy from an 8.0.2 server. However, you must replicate with the stpolicy.nsf from an 8.0.2 or higher server. | | | | | | | | |
