Sametime log reports 'Listeners and CBR Conflict!' and STMux is not active

Technote (troubleshooting)


Problem

You attempt to run your Sametime server but notice that ST Mux is never active. The error "Listeners and CBR conflict!: Cannot route to port=80" appears in sametime.log, as follows:

    I Mux 14/Feb/03, 15:34:02 Mux configured to listen on ports 80 on all ips of the of machine
    I Mux 14/Feb/03, 15:34:02 CBR configuration update:
    I Mux 14/Feb/03, 15:34:02 CBR entry: url=/meetingcbr, serverIp=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, port=8081
    I Mux 14/Feb/03, 15:34:02 CBR entry: url=/broadcastcbr, serverIp=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, port=554
    E Mux 14/Feb/03, 15:34:02 Listeners and CBR conflict!: Cannot route to port=80, ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (http server). exiting!

Notes client Instant Messaging users will typically receive a "Connection refused" error when attempting to log into instant messaging server (Sametime server).

Resolving the problem

This problem has been known to occur in the following situations:

  • You have enabled tunneling but have done it manually.

    Check the Server document for Ports -> Internet Ports -> Web and under TCPIP settings make sure it has not been changed from 8088 to 80 The TCP/IP port number should be set to 8088.
  • The CommunityConnectivity document in STConfig.nsf is corrupt in some way.

    Recreating the CommunityConnectivity document and rebooting the server resolved the issue.
  • The Meeting Server Port is not set correctly.

    In the Stconfig.nsf -> Meeting Services document, the "Meeting Server Port" might be set to 80 and should be set to 8081.
