Abstract
Describes the two step process of obtaining an IBM ID and associating it to the customer number used to purchase PLM products from IBM. The links to accomplish this are provided.

Content
To access locked links:
  1. Create an IBM profile, if you don't already have one, then
  2. Request access with the IBM customer number used to license your PLM products.

Is it really that easy? Yes, especially if you pay careful attention to the instructional text in the Request access dialog.

In case you have further questions, read on...

Why can't I gain access in one step?
The ID that you create in the first step is not specific to the PLM Technical Support web site; it can be used throughout the ibm.com domain. The second step assures that you are given the proper level of support for your PLM products.

I completed the two step process, but I still don't have access. Why?
Although we try to process requests automatically, sometimes circumstances dictate that your request needs to be further processed manually by IBM. The Request access dialog will specifically tell you this. Further, when you submit the request to the back-end process, you will be told that your request will be processed within two business days. Typically, it's much faster!

How quickly should I resubmit an access request?
If your access request needed to be further processed by IBM, please wait until you receive an email response from IBM. You do not need to submit an access request for every locked link on the PLM Technical Support web site.

Do I need to wait for a confirmation email after creating my IBM ID before invoking the RequestAccess dialog?
No email confirmation is sent when you create your IBM ID. You can invoke the Request access dialog immediately after creating your ID.

Where do I supply my customer number in the IBM profile creation step?
The customer number which you used to purchase PLM products is not provided in the IBM profile creation step. Rather, once you've created your profile, you then associate your customer number to it in the second step (i.e., the Request access dialog).

How do I associate multiple customer numbers to my IBM ID?
To associate multiple customer numbers to your IBM ID, simply invoke the Request access dialog once for each customer number. In other words, one ID can have multiple customer numbers associated to it; you do not need to have multiple IDs if you have multiple customer numbers.

Does the RequestAccess dialog allow me to gain access to other IBM web sites?
While you can use your one IBM ID to sign into the ibm.com domain, our Request access dialog will only affect your entitlement on the PLM Technical Support web site.

The RequestAccess dialog is telling me I don't have complete information in my profile. Why weren't those fields required when I created my profile?
When you invoke the Request access dialog, we set the required fields to be the ones which will allow you to perform any task available on the PLM Technical Support web site. By having that information up-front, we save you time later. Remember, too, the ID that you created in the first step can be used throughout the ibm.com domain; each product potentially will have different required fields.

I don't know the customer number which was used to purchase my PLM products. Don't you know it?
Many companies purchase PLM products from IBM under separate IBM customer numbers depending on the physical site, division, project, etc. We are not necessarily privy to that information. The Request access dialog has sample customer packing slips and invoices to help you find your customer number.

Where do I find my customer number?
You can typically find your customer number on the invoice or packing list for your PLM products.

My customer number doesn't seem to follow the examples. What should I input into the dialog?
In the USA, customer numbers are seven alphameric characters. Elsewhere, they are six alphameric characters. Typically, the first three characters are a country code. Based on the country in your IBM ID, we assume a country code in the Request access dialog. Typically, the last two characters are B1. The numbers or letters between the country code and the B1 are your six or seven character customer number see sample). The dialog will let you know if it doesn't recognize the customer number you provide.

My customer number's country code doesn't match the one the dialog proposes. What should I do?
The Request access dialog has a Comments box where you can give us your specific circumstances, including country code differences, company name changes, recent product purchase dates, etc.

How can I delete or rename existing PLM agreements associated to my IBM ID?
To delete or rename existing PLM agreements, send us a feedback with the details, and we'll take care of it usually within two IBM US business hours.
