DCR_7 CATDUA Cleaning Rule yields a loss of Associativity between the 3D and the Drawing

 Flash (Alert)

Abstract
The use of the DCR_7 CATDUA cleaning rule (introduced in V5R16SP4 HF40, V5R17 SP5 and V5R18GA) on a CATDrawing could lead to a loss of associativity between the 3D data and the associated drawing.

This issue is addressed in APAR HD70511. The following are the levels of code impacted by this issue:
V5R16SP4 with HF level between HF40 & HF72 (included)
V5R17 SP6 & SP7
V5R18 GA, SP1 & SP2

Content
The following are four views associativity situations where the 3D data may be impacted with the use of the DCR_7 CATDUA cleaning rule:
  1. Section (cut) view profile when this profile has been sketched in the drawing (i.e. profile associative to a hole)
  2. Auxiliary view direction sketched associatively with generated items
  3. Breakout view reference element for depth definition
  4. Generated items specific overloaded properties (i.e. “deleted”, or “thickness” property

See attached PDF file below for sample problem scenarios for each of the above situations.

Once a CATDrawing has been cleaned with the DCR_7 rule an update of a view containing the objects mentioned above may lead to the following behavior:

  • Neither the Profile of the Section (cut) view (the callout) nor the view itself will follow the modified 3D geometry.
  • Neither the Auxiliary view direction (the callout) nor the view itself will follow 3D geometry
  • Depth definition reference 3D element for breakout view will lose its associativity to 3D. Breakout will keep its previous depth at next drawing update.
  • Properties overloaded for individual generated items are lost (the “deleted” generated items will be generated back, or the default thickness value will be applied at the next drawing view update).

It is suggested that users remove the DCR_7 cleaning rule from CATDUAV5 detected rules on impacted levels until correction installation is performed.

Corrections for this issue will be delivered via the two following means:
  • DCR_7 CATDUAV5 cleaner rule does not remove associativity between 2D & 3D anymore
  • HLV_5 CATDUAV5 cleaner rule is created to detect associativity lost by DCR_7 rule.

See the attached PDF file for more details on how to detect lost associativity and Corrections delivery dates.
