Resolving The Problem

  • Is outgoing mail being left on the JES spool or incoming mail not placed on the spool?
    Collect an SMTP trace

    - TSO SMSG SMTP DEBUG

    Gather a display of the queues and statistics

    - TSO SMSG SMTP QUeues
    - TSO SMSG SMTP STats

  • Check for AMPX errors in the SYSERR dd statement.




Incoming mail is not delivered

  • Gather a display of the queues and statistics.
    - TSO SMSG SMTP QUeues

    - TSO SMSG SMTP STats
  • Collect an SMTP trace.
    - TSO SMSG DEBUG
  • Check for AMPX errors in the SYSERR dd statement.





Outgoing mail is not delivered

  • Gather a display of the queues and statistics.
    - TSO SMSG SMTP QUeues

    - TSO SMSG SMTP STats
  • Collect an SMTP trace.
    - TSO SMSG SMTP DEBUG
  • Collect a resolver trace if mail is queued up on the resolver queue
    - TSO SMSG SMTP TRACE

  • Check for AMPX errors in the SYSERR dd statement.
