- Identify whether the problem is incoming or outgoing mail.

- Is outgoing mail being left on the JES spool or incoming mail not placed on the spool?
- Collect an SMTP trace
- Check for AMPX errors in the SYSERR dd statement.

Gather a display of the queues and statistics
