OA28445: TSO USER HUNG IN OUTPUT WAIT. TCB/RB STRUCTURE SHOWS OUTPUT WAIT IN TCB AND AN IRB FOR A TIMER POP WAITING TO RUN.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• TSO user hung in OUTPUT WAIT.  TCB/RB structure shows OUTPUT
  WAIT in TCB and an IRB for a timer pop waiting to run.
  Additional Symptoms: hang tput
  
  Telnet clients hanging (x-clock) trying to display large screens
  ex: sdsf output screens. Attn key causes data to be sent
  from SDSF/TSO

  This problem is described as follows:
    1. A TSO user application issued a STLINENO macro to send
       the next Non-Fullscreen TPUT in line mode at line
       number 1.
    2. IKT09413 received control to process the STLINENO macro.
       It turned off the Fullscreen mode. It also set the TVWASCHT
       indicator to request IKTVTPUT to start the timer when
       it processes the next TPUT.
    3. The TSO user application issued a Non-Fullscreen TPUT Edit
       with Hold option.
    4. IKTVTPUT received control and scheduled the TOM SRB
       (IKTOMLU2) to send the data out to the terminal. Because
       TVWASCHT was on, IKTVTPUT erroneously started the timer and
       scheduled the TOM SRB again. In addition, it suspended the
       task in an output wait due to the TPUT with the Hold
       option.
    5. When the timer expired, the timer pop up routine came up
       as an IRB under the suspended task (TCB). This IRB never
       got dispatched because the TCB was in an output wait.
  

Problem conclusion

• IKTVTPUT is changed to clear the TVWASCHT indicator if it is
  processing a TPUT with the Hold option. It will not start
  the timer to schedule the TOM SRB again.
