• DB2 sessions are are failing with the following messages.

Problem summary

  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: VTAM/APPC intrahost conversations hang. *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  The problem may be summarized as follows:
  
  1. An APPCCMD CONTROL=ALLOC,QUALIFY=ALLOCD was issued from
     APPL1 to start a conversation with APPL2 using logmode
     BATCH.  Both APPL1 and APPL2 resided on the same host
     and both have APPC=YES specified on the APPL statement.
  
  2. The ALLOC,ALLOC RPL completed successfully.  APPL1 next
     issued an APPCCMD CONTROL=SEND QUALIFY=DATAFLU to send
     the FMH5 to APPL1.
  
  3. Module ISTPSCPS issued a TPWAIT after sending the
     SEND_DATA AMU (representing the FMH5) to Half Session
     (ISTHSCRT) for APPL1.  The TPWAIT was never posted and
     the conversation hung as a result.  The problem was
     due to missing logic in module ISTHSCRU for the Half
     Session component of APPL2 which processes the FMH5
     forwarded from APPL1.
  

Problem conclusion

• To resolve this problem, the following changes
  have been made:
  
  1. Module ISTHSCRU has been modified to correctly update
     the received FMH5 count in the HSICB.
  
  2. Modules ISTPSCPS, ISTHSCRU, ISTNSCLR, ISTORCEJ, ISTTSCAF,
     and ISTHSCHP have been included for maintenance purposes
     only.
