OA26852: ABEND0C4 PIC4 IN ISTRACRR AFTER CALL FROM ISTRACAP 08/10/24 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ISTRACRR abends when attempting to alter key 6 storage while
  running in key 4.  ISTRACAP called ISTRACRR in key 4.  ISTRACAP
  may also abend processing storage while running in the wrong
  key.
  Additional symptoms:
  ABEND0A9 in ISTAPCSD RC 10F1 after the ABEND0C4 in ISTRACRR or
  ISTRACAP.
  
  ABEND0C4 in ISTRACAP with PSW Key 4.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:   ABEND0C4 in ISTRACRR after being      *
  *                      called from ISTRACAP.  ISTRACRR abends  *
  *                      when attempting to alter key 6 storage  *
  *                      while running in key 4.  ISTRACAP       *
  *                      called ISTRACRR in key 4.               *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  The problem can be summarized as follows:
  1. ISTRACAP was called to trace an API request issued by an
     application that was not an authorized program facility
     (APF) designated application.
  2. If the API request specified a NIB, ISTRACAP would save the
     current PSW Key and switch to Key 0.
  3. If the application was running in SRB mode, ISTRACAP would
     sometimes corrupt the saved key before it was restored.
  4. ISTRACAP would restore the PSW key from the corrupted saved
     key and call ISTRACRR
  5. ISTRACRR or ISTRACAP would abend processing storage in the
     wrong key.
  

Problem conclusion

• UA42891, UA42892, UA42893
  
  ISTRACAP has been changed to not corrupt the saved PSW key.
  
  ISTAICI2 ISTAICRX ISTAICUE ISTAPCFR ISTAPCIN ISTORCGS ISTORMVA
  ISTORMVF and IUTLLCIX have been recompiled for maintenance
  purposes.
