Error description
Multiple abends due to the first byte of the two word GETBLK header being overlaid. This APAR does not fix the cause of the overlay, it helps to prevent the repeated abends afterwards. In this particular case this is what the header looked like: 44000CF0 FFFFFFFF the '44' in the first byte was the overlay. The beginning of the overlay started three bytes before the GETBLK SMS header, but the last byte of the one word overlay ended up on the GETBLK HDR.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Multiple ABENDs due to the overlaid * * first byte of the GETBLK header. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This problem is described as follows: 1. The first byte of the GETBLK header (GBHFBQE) was overlaid with X'44'. 2. TSC issued a GETBLK request to obtain storage. 3. ISTORCGB received control to process the GETBLK request, detected GBHFBQE in the GETBLK header overlaid with X'44', and issued FFST probe ISTORCZ1 to take a dump. It tried to fix the overlay using the whole word GBHFBQE as an offset to the next GETBLK header. This caused an ABEND0C4 because the address was invalid.
Problem conclusion
ISTORCGB has been changed to assume that GBHFBQE in the GETBLK header has been overlaid if the value is greater than or equal to 65535.
