Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Communications Server * * for z/OS Version 1 Release(s) 11 IP: FTP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Add new FTP.DATA statement to enable * * the standard Simplified Chinese * * (PRC1115) single byte code point * * range. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The code point range for FTP simplified Chinese double byte code page was expanded to first byte x'81' to x'FE', and the second byte range from x'40' to x'FE'. If the non-standard range is desired, a new FTP.DATA statement is provided to enable this. The new FTP.DATA statement is EXTDBSCHINESE. Use the EXTDBSCHINESE statement to specify whether the extended double byte range for Simplified Chinese characters is enabled (TRUE) for translation from ASCII to EBCDIC code points. The default is TRUE. +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes. Problem conclusion
The FTP client and server have been enhanced to enable EXTDBSCHINESE. ====================================================== Documentation updates IBM Communications Server: IP Configuration Reference SC318776 Add the following under FTP.DATA data set statements EXTDBSCHINESE (FTP server and client) Use the EXTDBSCHINESE statement to specify whether the extended double byte range for Simplified Chinese characters is enabled (TRUE) for translation from ASCII to EBCDIC code points. This is the default. The extended range when EXTDBSCHINESE is TRUE is: 1st byte : x'81' - x'FE' 2nd byte : x'40' - x'FE' The standard range when EXTDBSCHINESE is FALSE is: 1st byte : x'8C' - x'FE' 2nd byte : x'A1' - x'FE' Syntax _EXTDBSCHINESE__TRUE___ | | >>__|_EXTDBSCHINESE__FALSE__|________________<< |TRUE___| Parameters TRUE Specifies that the extended double byte range for Simplified Chinese characters is enabled for translation from ASCII to EBCDIC code points. This is the default. 1st byte range: x'81' - x'FE' 2nd byte range: x'40' - x'FE' FALSE Specifies that the extended double byte range for Simplified Chinese characters is not enabled for translation from ASCII to EBCDIC code points. 1st byte range: x'8C' - x'FE' 2nd byte range: x'A1' - x'FE' Examples Use EXTDBSCHINESE FALSE to disable the extended double byte range for simplified Chinese. EXTDBSCHINESE FALSE ================================================================ IBM Communications Server: IP User's Guide and Commands SC318780 Add the following to the SITE and LOCSITE Subcommands Add the following 2 lines into the format chart: |_EXTDBSCHINESE_______________________| |_NOEXTDBSCHINESE | And add the following descriptions: EXTDBSCHINESE Specifies that the extended range for double byte simplified Chinese translations from ASCII to EBCDIC is used. The extended range when EXTDBSCHINESE is specified is: 1st byte : x'81' - x'FE' 2nd byte : x'40' - x'FE' NOEXTDBSCHINESE Specifies that the extended range for double byte simplified Chinese translations from ASCII to EBCDIC is not used. The standard range when NOEXTDBSCHINESE is specified is: 1st byte : x'8C' - x'FE' 2nd byte : x'A1' - x'FE' =============================================================== * Cross Reference between External and Internal Names EZAFTPSM (FTPDMSG )
