TSAMP 4.1 - samadapter configuration of "Host name or IP address"

Question & Answer

Question

Should I specify a hostname/IP address or should I just check the box "Use local host name" ?

Answer

On the "Adapter" tab, the field "Host name or IP address" is the host name of the node where the adapter runs if the adapter is not automated. The local host name is used as default value. If you want to use a different value than the local host name, for example if you are using a second network, clear the "Use local host name" check box to enable the entry field for editing.

Impact on configuration file replication: If you use the local host name, the "Replicate" function makes sure that the respective local host name is used on each replication target node. If you specify a different host name or IP address, the "Replicate" function replicates this value to the other nodes in the cluster. In this case configure the adapter host on each node separately, if you do not want the same value to be used on all nodes.
