Uninstalling the English-only version of IBM Records Manager V8.5 can erase data source configuration settings

Abstract
If you have upgraded from IBM Records Manager V8.4 to the English-only release of IBM Records Manager V8.5, uninstalling IBM Records Manager V8.5 can erase the configuration settings of all of the data sources that are defined within the application server on which IBM Records Manager V8.5 is deployed. Complete the following steps before you attempt to uninstall the product.

You can identify the English-only release of IBM Records Manager 8.5 at two times: either before or after the installation.

How to identify IBM Records Manager 8.5 English-only release
To identify before installation:

    Extract the driver to view the IBM Records Manager build version number.
    For example, IRM_8.5.00.000.40_* indicates the English-only release.

To identify after installation:
    Log on to the IBM Records Manager Administration client. You can view the IBM Records Manager build version number on the About page.
    For example, IRM_8.5.00.000.40.40 indicates the English-only release.

Requirements before you uninstall
You must complete the following steps before you attempt to uninstall the IBM Records Manager V8.5 English-only release.

1. Back up the file:
    IBM Records Manager installation directory/config/IRMRepository.xml
2. Open the file IRMRepository.xml
3. Add the data source name and database type entries for the IBM Records Manager engine.
    For example, if the data source name is IRMDS and the database type is DB2, add the two lines that are shown in bold in the following sample:

         <data name="WAS_VERSION">6.1.0.17</data>

    .
     <engine version="8.5.00.00">
      <data name="WAS_SERVER_NAME_ENGINE">server1</data>
      <data name="WAS_ADMIN_CONNECT_TYPE_ENGINE">SOAP</data>
      <data name="WAS_ADMIN_CONNECT_PORT_ENGINE">8880</data>
      <data name="WAS_RMI_PORT_ENGINE">2809</data>
    .
    .
       <data name="ENGINE_CONFIG_DB_TYPE_ENGINE">DB2</data>
       <data name="ENGINE_CONFIG_DATA_SOURCE_NAME_ENGINE">IRMDS</data>
     </engine>
    .
    .
    <WASProfile>
4. Save the file. You can now safely uninstall the application.
