Rational Developer for System z Version 7.1 installation: Tooling support for IMS SOAP Gateway and IMS Web 2.0 Solution

Preparation steps

After you download all parts and components of Rational Developer for System z Version 7.1 from the IMS SOAP Gateway download Web site (https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=imssg):

1. Double-click each of the five RDz7.1-RAD-Install-partXof5.exe files that you downloaded.
   
   These .exe files will create folders disk1 thru disk13.
2. Double-click the RDz7.1-RAD-ActivationKits.exe file that you downloaded. This .exe file creates a RDz-RAD-License folder.

1. Double-click the disk1 folder, one of the folders that you just extracted.
2. Double-click install_win32.exe to install IBM Installation Manager. The InstallShield Wizard starts and guides you through the IM installation process.
3. When the installation is complete, the IBM Installation Manager window opens.
   
   
4. Close the IBM Installation Manager window.
5. Double-click RDzLaunchpad.exe. The following screen opens.
   
6. Click Install IBM Rational Developer for System z V7.1. The InstallShield Wizard starts, and the IBM Installation Manager Install Packages window opens.
7. Click the check box for IBM Rational Developer for System z and click Next. The Install Packages licenses window (the Licenses tab) opens.
   
8. Check the I accept the terms in the license agreements radio button and click Next.
9. In the Location step:
   a. Accept the default installation directory for shared resources or specify a different location. Click Next.
   b. Click Next to accept the default location for Eclipse IDE and JVM. If you have a compatible Eclipse IDE on your system, you can also specify check the Extend an existing Eclipse check box and specify the location of your Eclipse IDE and JVM.
10. In the Features step, select the languages and click Next.The Summary page displays.
    

Updating to Rational Developer for System z Version 7.1.1

1. After the installation is complete, if IBM Installation Manager is not open, go to Start> All Programs> IBM Installation Manager> IBM Installation Manager.
2. Click Apply and then click OK. You are back to the IBM Installation Manager window.
3. Click Update Packages. The Update Packages page opens.
4. In the Update Package step, click IBM Software Development Platform in the package group name list to select it, and click Next.
5. In the Updates step, ensure that both IBM Rational Application Developer and IBM Rational Developer for System z are selected. Click Next.
   
   
6. In the License page, check the I accept the terms in the license agreements radio button and click Next.
7. In the Summary page, click Update. After the update is complete, you are back to the IBM Installation Manager.
   

1. In the IBM Installation Manager, Click Manage Licenses.
2. Select Version 7.0.0.4, and click the Import Product Activation Kit radio button to select it.
   
3. Click Browse and navigate to RDz-RAD-License/RADlic.jar. Select this file and click OK.
4. In the Manage License panel, click Next.
5. In the License page, check the I accept the terms in the license agreements radio button and click Next.
6. In the Import License page, click Finish.
