Abstract
ITDS (LDAP) V6.x may get into an infinite loop resulting in decreased responsiveness.

An issue has been identified with IBM Tivoli Directory Server V6.x. When sending certain (valid and trivial) input to ITDS ldap server, a thread is put into an infinite loop. Continuing to send the same input to the ITDS server creates other threads, resulting in infinite loops.
The actual impact of these loops to the systems depends upon the amount of CPU resources allocated to ITDS. For example, if 100% of the CPU is allocated to ITDS, other services on the machine will be starved by these looping threads. Once the server gets into the infinite loop the only way to recover is to stop & restart the server.

To address this issue, IBM has released fixes for ITDS V6.0, V6.1 & V6.2. Follow the links below to access the fix for the version/release required.
