This Flash is a reminder that the end of support date for DB2 V8.x products is rapidly approaching. Effective April 30, 2009, IBM will withdraw support from the DB2 UDB V8.x product releases.

What are the end of support dates for DB2 UDB V8.2 ?
End of support for DB2 UDB v8.2 products is April 30, 2009.
Extended support may be purchased to extend your support until April 30, 2012.

"End of support" indicates the last date on which you are entitled to base support for your DB2 UDB product. You can extend the support period beyond the end of support date for an additional fee.

"Extended support" indicates the final date in which IBM shall end all support for the DB2 UDB products.


Where are the DB2 UDB product end of support dates listed?
The

How do I purchase a Support Extension?
Support extensions may be purchased for an additional fee. To extend the support period beyond April 30, 2009, please contact your local IBM Sales Representative. For direct inquiries, US Customers may call IBM Sales at 1-888-426-4343, option 3 and ask for a Service Extension on DB2 UDB. Customers in other geographies should refer to
the IBM directory of worldwide contacts to find sales contact numbers in their region.

Note that when you contact support they will inquire if you are on the latest fix pak for DB2 UDB V8. The latest fixpak is Fixpak 18 which may be downloaded from the fix packs by version page.

When the server product goes out of support, does the client also go out of support?
Yes, the DB2 UDB V8.x clients will no longer be supported. All DB2 UDB products will end support on April 30, 2009.
DB2 UDB V8.x clients connecting to a DB2 LUW V9.1 and V9.5 will no longer be supported by IBM after April 30, 2009, unless a
support extension has been purchased.


How do I know if my DB2 Universal JDBC driver is supported?
Effective April 30, 2009, only DB2 V9.x Universal JDBC drivers will be supported. Use the technote [
1363866] to check the version of the DB2 JCC driver installed with your application.


What if I have a special build or an older fixpak on DB2 UDB V8.x? Am I still supported?
All support for
DB2 UDB ESE V8.x ends on April 30, 2009 unless a support extension has been purchased.
The policy statement for DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows fix packs, special builds,Total Content Ownership agreements and IBM Software Premium Services is located in technote [1180416].


I am using DB2 UDB v8.x as part of a bundle, am I still supported?
DB2 UDB v8.x will continue to be supported if it is being used according to the terms of the license agreement (i.e. limited use) of a bundled product for as long as the bundled product remains in support. For specific details on the terms of the license for DB2 UDB v8.x within a bundled scenario, please review the license agreement included with the product that bundled DB2 UDB v8.x


Do certifications for DB2 UDB v8 still exist after EOS?
The certifications for DB2 UDB v8 (700,701,703) shall be available for several months after EOS. View the current DB2 certifications on the
IM Certifications page. View new or retired DB2 certifications.
