Limitations on Safari Web browser

Problem(Abstract)
Safari limitations: Safari 3.1 Web browser has a limited support on certain libraries used by several components in WebSphere Portal. As a result, some option menus and portlets may fail to render the appropriate values or not work at all.
 
Symptom
  • Sametime awareness icon is not working.
  • Drag and Drop from the Portal Palette does not work.
  • Unsupported Client-Side Aggregation.
  • Common Mail portlets (CPP) not supported for Safari Web browser.
  • Portlets using Exchange2003 Outlook Web Access fail to parse user ID or password.
  • Observed text wrap rendering problems when user specifies long and unbreakable strings (like directory paths). The location information of the personalization rule will be out of the frame if the path is too long the in WCM personalization component panel.
  • My Places portlet not supported for Safari Web browser.
  • Feed reader portlet not supported for Safari Web browser.
  • Ephox EditLive! for IBM Lotus Web Content Management is not supported with Apple Safari Web browser for Microsoft Windows.
 
Cause
Limited support on Safari 3.1 Web browser.
 
Resolving the problem
Use any of the other supported Web browsers. See Supported hardware and software for details.

Note for Drag and Drop limitation only.
In order to add a portlet from the Palette, you must use the Add button (+) to add the portlet to a page. This portlet will be placed at the top of the page. You can then alter this placement by using either the Edit Layout portlet or Drag and Drop on the page itself.
