Problem(Abstract)

Documents for collecting troubleshooting data aid in problem determination and save time resolving Problem Management Records (PMRs).

Resolving the problem

Collecting troubleshooting data early, even before opening a PMR, helps IBM Support quickly determine if:

  • Symptoms match known problems (rediscovery).
  • There is a non-defect problem that can be identified and resolved.
  • There is a defect that identifies a workaround to reduce severity.
  • Locating root cause can speed development of a code fix.

Depending on the nature of the issue, IBM Support may need to request logs and tracing more than once. For example, initial log analysis may indicate that more specific traces are required to troubleshoot, and thus a problem recreation with new traces may be required.

Data Collection
Automated log collection is available for this MustGather information and is the recommended method for improving accuracy of the data collection.

If you cannot locate a problem type in IBM Support Assistant Lite which matches your scenario, select the problem type WebSphere Portal-->Installation and Configuration-->Portal Basic File Collection to gather a general data collection.
