TWS commands fail with AWSDEJ027E ... Security file is empty or corrupt

Troubleshooting

Problem

If Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) commands such as conman, makesec, and dumpsec fail due to the AWSDEJ027E error, it might be necessary to restore the TWS Security file.

Cause

If the TWS Security file is directly modified by vi or is empty, then the error above will occur and the Security file will need to be recreated.

Resolving The Problem

Recreate the security file:

1. Login as root

2. cd ~twsuser

3. . ./tws_env.sh

4. mv Security Security.bad

5. makesec Security.conf

The commands that require security access will succeed after making these changes. If there was a backup made of the Security file changes that were made prior to the issue, the makesec command can now be used with that backup file to create a TWS Security file with the modifications.
