  The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server can crash after running for some period of time. The crash is the result of the server running out of system resources that it requires in order to continue to operate

• URGENT Actions Required: Changes to Daylight Saving Time will affect IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Administrative Interfaces.
  Information about the impact of the US Energy Policy Act of 2005, which changes the effective dates of US Daylight Saving Time (DST) in 2007 for the US, as well as similar DST changes in other countries for 2007. Actions are required to address this issue in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Administration Center 5.3.0 and higher and in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Express.

• z/OS dynamic allocation request must be answered immediately
  For a Tivoli Storage Manager server process to complete, the server might dynamically allocate tape devices and tape volumes. In most instances, the dynamic allocation completes quickly. There are times, however, when a dynamic allocation requires user intervention to ready a tape device, insert a tape volume into a library, mount a tape volume, or other action. If the user intervention is delayed, a program abend might occur on the Tivoli Storage Manager server.

• Constraint violation encountered in table MMS_DRIVES during V6.1 database upgrade
  Constraint violations will be encountered when upgrading a Version 5 Tivoli Storage Management server to Version 6, if the Version 5 server defined one or more SCSI drives with element numbers greater than 32767. Similarly, an existing Version 6 server will encounter database errors when a SCSI drive is defined with an element number greater than 32767.

• Security fixes for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) client
  Fixes are available for security vulnerabilities in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) client. The fixes address problems described by APARs IC59513, IC59994, IC59779, and IC59781. The Web GUI, Java GUI, and SSL in certain client releases are affected.

• Incorrect Windows system state backups and restores with TSM 5.5 and 6.1 Windows clients
  Under certain conditions, the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 5.5 or 6.1 Windows client can omit backups of some Windows registry components, or can back up the Windows system state under a second TSM file space name. After a subsequent system restore, some system or application services might not function correctly or the system might not boot up. Backups and restores of file data and directories are unaffected. Operational fixes can be used until software fixes are available.

• Tape Drive Reservation Conflict Errors when using Windows Servers and Storage Agent
  Windows 64-bit Tivoli Storage Manager servers or storage agents using SAN Discovery can cause reservation conflict errors for any other server or storage agent using tape drives in the same SAN environment. Additionally, there are several other causes for reservation conflicts on Windows with known work arounds listed below.
  
• Backupsets Generated with non-IBM LTO Generation 4 Drives Can Exhibit Overwritten Labels
  Tivoli Storage Manager server component, 5.4.2.0 and later, may exhibit overwritten header labels when generating backupsets with non-IBM LTO generation 4 drives.

• Flash: RELABELSCRATCH=YES option may lead to the incorrect labeling of sequential (VTL) volumes
  Scratch volumes may be incorrectly relabelled when RELABELSCRATCH=YES is specified in the library definition. This problem is addressed in APAR IC58862. DO NOT USE the RELABELSCRATCH=YES option in the library (VTL) definition until the fix for IC58862 is applied. This fix will be available in the 5.5.2.0 TSM Server level.
• Flash: ACSLS functionality on Windows requires the installation of StorageTek Library Attach
  StorageTek Library Attach software must be installed on Windows systems before using ACSLS functions with the Tivoli Storage Manager server or storage agent.
  
• Flash: TSM Macintosh client can expire mixed-case filename backup copies
  The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Macintosh client Java GUI or Web GUI can redundantly back up files and directories with mixed-case names on case-sensitive filesystems, and erroneously expire their backup copies. A workaround and a fix are available.
• Flash: TSM Windows client can incorrectly back up files that grow during compression
  The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Windows backup-archive clients can incorrectly back up or archive files that grow during compression when both the COMPRESSION YES and COMPRESSALWAYS NO options (non-default values) are in effect. A workaround and a fix are available.
• Flash: TSM client buffer overrun security vulnerability
  TSM client buffer overrun security vulnerabilityA security vulnerability exists in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Backup-Archive client. The buffer overrun vulnerability affects the Client Acceptor Daemon (CAD), and also the scheduler if using SCHEDMODE PROMPTED. A workaround and fix are available.
• Flash: Use of the Tivoli Storage Manager HP-UX Passthru device driver may result in data loss in multiple-drive environments due to a server or storage agent crash
  The Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) HP-UX Passthru device driver may cause data loss in multiple-drive environments under heavy workload. During simultaneous operations using multiple drives, the TSM HP-UX Passthru device driver may handle requests from the TSM server or storage agent incorrectly and may also fail to report errors correctly to the TSM server or storage agent.
  As a result, the TSM server or storage agent will display ANR8302E, ANR1330E, ANR1331E and ANR9999D error messages during back up, reclamation, migration, restore and move data operations. Receiving these messages indicates that a data loss may have occurred and the TSM server or storage agent may crash after receiving the ANR8302E I/O error message.
  These issues are addressed by APAR IC58416.
