Notes:

1. Quantum DXi8500 Series is the enterprise disk backup solution. The VTL can emulate various ATL, ADIC, and Quantum media changers. However, we recommend configuring the media changer as Quantum DXi8500 or Quantum Scalar i2000.

2. The following Tivoli Storage Manager version is required when the VTL is configured as Quantum DXi8500.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 5.5 - version 5.5.6 or later is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.1 - version 6.1.5 or later is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.2 - version 6.2.2 or later is required.

3. The following Tivoli Storage Manager version is required when the VTL emulates Quantum Scalar i2000.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 5.5 - version 5.5.5 or later is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.1 - version 6.1.5 or later is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.2 - version 6.2.2 or later is required.

4. Barcodes are supported.

6. ELEMent=AUTODetect in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

7. Application Managed Encryption (AME) is not supported.

8. With Galaxy 2.1 and later, Quantum DXi8500 to be configured with up to 512 drives. However, Tivoli Storage Manager may support less than 512 drives. See Technote 1364225 for information about the maximum number of devices that the Tivoli Storage Manager device driver can support on each platform.

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See "Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or "Supported Devices for Linux" for more support information including minimum supported version levels and supported platforms.
