Notes:

1. Library capacity
    16 drives 505 slots

2. Eight character barcodes are required. The last 2 characters must be the media identifier "Lx" where x is the tape cartridge generation. For example, ABC456L3 for an LTO-3 cartridge. Without a proper barcode label, a volume will appear as "unknown media".

3. The following media are supported
  • Ultrium 2
  • Ultrium 3
  • Ultrium 4 - TSM 5.4.2 or later is required
  • Ultrium 5
  • Ultrium 6

4. To use Ultrium 5 media, the following version of Tivoli Storage Manager Server is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 5.5 - version 5.5.5 or later
  • Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.1 - version 6.1.4 or later
  • Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.2 - version 6.2.1 or later

5. To use Ultrium 6 media, the following version of Tivoli Storage Manager Server is required.
  • Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.2 - version 6.2.5 or later
  • Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.3 - version 6.3.3 or later

6. HP EML E-Series library supports HP Secure Key Manager (SKM) for encryption key management. HP Secure Key Manager is supported with Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 5.5.4 and later maintenance levels and patches, and Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 6.1.3 and later version releases, maintenance levels and patches. To allow HP Secure Key Manager to manage encryption keys, set the DRIVEEncryption option for DEVCLASS to ALLOW.

7. Device identifications and firmware levels used during validation

8. ELEMent=AUTODetect in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

9. Available drives
10. LTO mixed generation is supported. The following drive and media combinations can be in the same logical library.
  • LTO-2 and LTO-3 drives and media
  • LTO-3 and LTO-4 drives and media
  • LTO-4 and LTO-5 drives and media
  • LTO-5 and LTO-6 drives and media

  • See Libraries with Mixed Media Capability for more information.

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See "Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or "Supported Devices for Linux" for minimum supported version levels and platforms for these devices.

More information regarding device configuration is available in the Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide, which can be found in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager information center.
