Notes:

1. Barcodes are supported. Tivoli Storage Manager Server requires optical media barcode labels with part number 1801-437. Refer to http://www.colorflex.com for more information.
2. The addresses of the elements in TERASTORE jukeboxes and TL7x libraries are as followed:
  • The element addresses of the storage slots 1-x are 1 to x
  • The element addresses of the drives 1-y are x+1 to x+y
  • The element addressees of the mailboxes 1-z are x+y+1 to x+y+z
  • The element addresses of the changers are x+y+z+1 to x+y+z+2

where
x is a number of storage slots in the jukebox
y is a number of drives in the jukebox
z is a number of mailboxes in the jukebox
TERASTORE jukeboxes have 2 changers where as TL7x libraries have only 1 changer.

Example

TERASTORE 4000-T1 has 2 drives, 24 storage slots and 1 mailbox Hence, the element addresses for TERASTORE 4000-T1 are
  • Slots - 1 to 24
  • Drives - 25 and 26
  • Mailbox - 27
  • Changers - 28 and 29

TL71 has 6 drives, 560 storage slots and 10 mailboxes. Hence, the element addresses for TL71 are:
  • Slots - 1 to 560
  • Drives - 561 to 566
  • Mailboxes - 567 to 576
  • Changer - 577
3. Element addresses are assigned dynamically. If a drive is locked via the console of the jukebox, the element addresses of the elements which come after the locked drive will change. The TSM server must be restarted and the drives with new element addresses will have to be redefined.

For example, TERASTORE 4000-T3 has 4 drives and 18 slots. All drives are defined in the TSM server. If drive 2 is locked, the element addresses of drive 3 and drive 4 will become 20 and 21 respectively. Drive 3 and drive 4 will have to be redefined with the new element addresses.
4. Device identifications and firmware levels
  • 7100 - Library ID : DSM T7100 --- FW : 3113
  • with SONY SMO-F551 --- FW : 1.18
  • 7600 - Library ID : DSM T7600 --- FW : 3116 and up
  • TL71 - Library ID : DSM TL71 --- FW : 3214 and up

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See " Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or " Supported Devices for Linux" for minimum supported version levels and platforms for these devices.

More information regarding device configuration is available in the Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide, which can be found in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager information center.
