Ultrium Generation 1 (LTO-1) Configuration Information for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

Configuration Information for Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-1, HP Ultrium 215, HP Ultrium 230, HP Ultrium 232, IBM 100/200GB LTO-1, IBM 3580 Ultrium 1, and Seagate Ultrium 1

Content

Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-1
HP Ultrium 215/230
HP Ultrium 232
IBM 100/200GB LTO-1
IBM 3580 Ultrium 1
Seagate Ultrium 1
Sun StorageTek T200 (No longer supported with Tivoli Storage Manager Server version 7.1 and later.)

1. When defining a device class for LTO-1 drives, use

  • devtype=LTO
  • format=<DRIVE | ULTRIUM | ULTRIUMC >

    Example:

    DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=LTO FORMAT=ULTRIUM .....
    DEFine DEVclass devclassname DEVType=LTO FORMAT=ULTRIUMC .....

ULTRIUM - Specifies that TSM writes data that uses the ULTRIUM recording format. This format results in a cartridge capacity of 100GB when using Ultrium 100GB data cartridge.

ULTRIUMC - Specifies that TSM writes data that uses the ULTRIUM recording format with compression. This format results in a cartridge capacity of approximately 200GB when using Ultrium 100GB data cartridge.

2. 100 GB native capacity and approximately 200 GB with 2:1 compression.

3. Supported media
    Ultrium 1 LTO format cartridge

4. Device identifications and firmware levels used during validation process
    Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-1
Drive ID : HP Ultrium 1-SCSI
    Drive ID : SEAGATE ULTRIUM06242-XXX
    HP Ultrium 215/230
    Drive ID : HP Ultrium 1-SCSI --- Firmware : N11G
    HP Ultrium 232 ( TSM 5.3.2)
    Drive ID : HP Ultrium 1-SCSI --- Firmware : P23D
    IBM 100/200GB Half-High LTO ( PN 24P2396 and PN 59P6717 )
Drive ID : HP Ultrium 1-SCSI

    Drive ID : SEAGATE ULTRIUM06242-XXX --- Firmware : 1080
    Sun StorageTek T200
    Drive ID : IBM ULTRIUM-TD1

5. The IBM device driver is required for IBM LTO-1 drives except for IBM 100/200GB Half-High drives.

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See " Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or " Supported Devices for Linux" for minimum supported version levels and platforms for these devices.

More information regarding removable media is available in the Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide, which can be found in Tivoli Storage Manager Information Centers.
