Notes:

1. Barcodes are supported on IBM 3575. IBM Tivoli Storage Manager barcode implementation only accepts 6 characters for label. The first character 'F' is not used.

2. The 3575 drive cleaning allows automatic cleaning, host cleaning, or manual cleaning. Manual cleaning is always supported. It is strongly recommended that automatic cleaning always be enabled to ensure the highest drive availability and customer data integrity. The default during subsequent power-cycles is automatic cleaning.

3. When defining a DEVclass, 'devtype=3570 format=DRIVE|3570B|3570C' should be used.

4. There are two EE ports available. The first one is always used (element address of 30). It is the slot on the left hand side when facing the port. To insert a cartridge into element address 30, the front side of the cartridge has to face down.

5. Firmware levels used by the device driver development were
Library: 1.24
Drive: EC C70547 I4-166

6. Recommendation: Use the adapter that's provided along with the library unit.

7. Slots 32 - 45 are used as additional I/O ports for C Models. 3575 B Models do not have the additional I/O ports (slots 32 - 45). Those slots are used as regular storage slots.

8. The IBM device drivers are required and available for download at ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/

9. For more information on IBM Magstar MP 3575, see Magstar MP 3575 Tape Library Dataserver

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See " Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or " Supported Devices for Linux" for minimum supported version levels and platforms for these devices.

More information regarding device configuration is available in the Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator's Guide, which can be found in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager information center.
