Local fix
The problem only occurs with remote DB2/LUW client systems that are down level in maintenance. Hence, the problem can also be avoided by upgrading the associated DB2/LUW client system as follows: APAR FixPak ------- -------- IZ56424 V9.1 FP9 IZ56428 V9.5 FP6 IC62319 V9.7 FP1
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Distributed Data Facility (DDF) users * * using DB2 9 for z/OS to receive input * * host variable data via DRDA. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An application on a remote requester * * connects to a DB2 9 for z/OS server. * * When executing a statement with input * * host variables, the DB2 9 server * * abends with the following internal * * abend: * * ABND=04E-00D35011 * * LOC=DSNLZLLM.DSNLZSDT:000C * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In building the DRDA stream to send to the server, the requester system incorrectly formatted the DRDA SQLDTA object containing the application's user data. The application's user data was large enough to require an extended length value in the SQLDTA object, however, the value computed by the requester was too small. While the DB2 9 server properly detected the erroneous DRDA object, it performed the error processing incorrectly and took an internal abend instead of returning a DRDA exception to the requester. NOTE: this is a secondary error that only occurs if the primary error on the requester system occurs. If the primary error on the requester system is avoided, there is no abend at the server.
Problem conclusion
DB2 9 has been corrected to handle improperly formatted DRDA SQLDTA objects with invalid length field values.
