Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 for z/OS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. Sometimes when the OPTIMIZE FOR N * * ROW or FETCH FIRST N ROW clause * * is present on a query, a poor access * * path may be generated due to an * * unitialized internal structure. * * 2. ABEND0CC RC0C in DSNXOCSC or poor * * performance can sometimes occur for * * queries on tables having at least * * one index. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** 1. Sometimes when the OPTIMIZE FOR N ROW or FETCH FIRST N ROW clause is present on a query, a poor access path may be generated due to an uninitialized internal structure. 2. ABEND0CC RC0C in DSNXOCSC or poor query performance can sometimes occur for queries on tables having at least one index. An uninitialized variable can cause trouble if it happens to pick up certain garbage values. Additional Keywords: SQLACCESSPATH SQLOFNR SQLFFNR ROWS
Problem conclusion
The internal structure is initialized to allow the proper access path to be chosen. An uninitialized variable is set to avoid the abend.
