    Exception during bindpackage results in hanging connection.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When an error occurs during remote bind processing, the
    DB2 for z/OS server issues SQLCODE -917 and fails the Bind.
    But the server incorrectly fails to clear a thread-level error
    indicator for a previous failed remote bind request, leaving
    the thread in a state that would not allow additional binds,
    would not allow rollbacks, and would not allow the thread to
    terminate. When the application exits, connections may still
    be active on the DB2 for z/OS server. This could eventually
    lead to lock contention for subsequent access to resources
    held by those connections and can cause the client
    application to hang.

Problem conclusion

  • DB2 for z/OS server has been changed to clear the error
    indicator for a previous failed remote bind request, leaving
    the thread in a consistent sate, ready to accept new bind
    requests.
