A fix is available

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Add sample SQL statements to DSNTIJSG and DSNTIJNX for
    populating tables used by IBM Text Server for DB2 for z/OS.
    The tables affected are: SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTSERVERS and
    SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTCONNECTINFO.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the DB2 Version 9.1 for z/OS *
    * installation CLIST and jobs are affected by *
    * this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Add example SQL statements that *
    * can be modified and used to populate *
    * administrative tables used by the IBM *
    * Text Search for DB2 for z/OS feature. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: *
    ****************************************************************
    To enable IBM Text Search for DB2 for z/OS, you need to create
    the administration tables, the administration stored procedures,
    and bind the packages:
    * If you install a new DB2 V9.1 for z/OS subsytem or data
    sharing group, DB2 starts in new-function mode. The objects
    that you need for text search support are created when you
    run job DSNTIJSG.
    * If you migrate to DB2 V9.1 for z/OS from Version 8, DB2 starts
    in compatibility mode. After DB2 enters new-function mode,
    the text search objects are created when you run job DSNTIJNX.
    .
    You must then populate the server information columns in the
    SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTSERVERS administration table with information
    about where the IBM Text Search Servers for DB2 for z/OS are
    installed.
    .
    You must also populate the SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTCONNECTINFO
    administration table with the DB2 for z/OS connection
    information so that an IBM Text Search Server for DB2
    for z/OS can connect to the DB2 subsystem.
    .

Problem conclusion

  • To facilitate the above tasks, this APAR adds optional example
    SQL statements to installation jobs DSNTIJSG and DSNTIJNX that
    you can modify and process to populate the
    SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTSERVERS and SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTCONNECTINFO tables.
    As noted above, these tables need to be initialized with
    site-specific settings before you can use the Text Search
    feature.
    .
    The new example SQL statements appear after a comment block at
    at the end of job step DSNTIJO. You can uncomment and modify
    them for processing as part of running this job, or copy and
    modify them later for processing via SPUFI or a similar dynamic
    sql processing tool.
    .
    The statements show how to:
    - Register information about where a Text Search Server for DB2
    for z/OS is installed.
    - Use the SYSFUN.SYSTS_ENCRYPT function to encrypt a DB2
    password that the Text Search Server needs to connect to DB2
    - Add information so that a Text Search Server can connect to
    the DB2 for z/OS subsystem
    .
    The statements are:
    INSERT INTO SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTSERVERS
    (SERVERNAME,SERVERPORT,SERVERAUTHTOKEN,SERVERMASTERKEY)
    VALUES('9.30.176.75',10000,'1aPgk6Q='
    ,'1aPgk6TkD/FVt8BuCyO8Bg==');

    UPDATE SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTSERVERS SET DB2ENCRYPTEDPW =
    SYSFUN.SYSTS_ENCRYPT('myDB2UIDpw',SERVERMASTERKEY);

    INSERT INTO SYSIBMTS.SYSTEXTCONNECTINFO
    (DB2HOSTNAME,DB2SERVICEPORT,DB2UID)
    VALUES('db2host.svl.ibm.com','446','DB2UID');
    .
    Text entries in the VALUES clauses are examples only. Thus,
    before processing these statements, you need to customize them
    with the correct values for your site. For more information,
    see the section entitled "Installing and configuring text search
    functions" in the publication "Administering IBM Text Search for
    DB2 for z/OS".
