Question
How to find the Webshere Application Server version information from command line?
Answer
Websphere Application Server (WAS) contains a command line tool called 'versionInfo' which generates a report on version information for WAS. This includes a list of changed components and installed or uninstalled maintenance packages.
For UNIX based systems the location is the command file is a script named versionInfo.sh in the app_server_root\bin directory.
For Windows based systems command file is named versionInfo.bat in the app_server_root/bin directory.
Note -If you are using Version 6.0.0.0 or Version 6.0.0.1 of a WebSphere Application Server product, install Fix Pack 2 and interim fix PK01574 before using the versionInfo command.
