Do Not Use Volumes (VDisks) Larger than 2TB in FlashCopy Mappings

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

Volumes (VDisks) larger than 2TB are not currently supported for use in FlashCopy mappings with SVC V5.1.0.x and V6.1.0.0 - V6.1.0.8.

Content

SAN Volume Controller V5.1.0 and V6.1.0 allows Volumes (VDisks) to be created with a capacity up to 256TB. However, it is not currently supported to use Volumes (VDisks) with a virtual capacity larger than 2TB in FlashCopy mappings in code levels earlier than V6.1.0.9. Doing so will result in incorrect data being written to the target Volume (VDisk), and may also result in software errors on the cluster, potentially impacting the availability of the cluster.

This restriction is lifted in the SAN Volume Controller V6.1.0.9 release.

Please refer to the What's new in the IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller Information Center for more information on SVC Terminology changes.
