The following items should be reviewed and performed (if necessary) prior to placing a call to the Support Center for questions and/or problems concerning the 3580 or 3581 machine types. 1. Verify by checking the firmware available on this web site that firmware installed on your machine (drive firmware and, if your machine is the 3581, the autoloader firmware) is the most recent.
2. Verify that the device drivers you are using are the most recent.
For ISV device drivers and software, refer to the appropriate third party website or other method used to verify latest available firmware and software.
3. Check whether or not the configuration you are using is supported (see website).
4. Review the Troubleshooting section in the Setup and Operators Guide.
6. Perform a general checkup of the hardware and connections:
Ensure you are using the correct SCSI terminator (LVD/HVD) and that you are not mistakenly using a SCSI wrap plug (used for diagnostic SCSI wrap test) in its place.
Before attaching the SCSI cables, ensure that there are no bent or recessed pins.
Ensure that all SCSI cable and terminator retention screws are tightened securely.
