First steps for troubleshooting TFIM problems.

Troubleshooting


Problem

If TFIM is not functioning as expected, for example after applying a FixPack all the APARs in the FixPack do not seem to be corrected, or after making config changes these do not appear to take effect on the runtime, the plugins may not be in sync.

Cause

The most common cause of this behavior is due to a mismatch in the plugins and the runtime version.

Resolving The Problem

  • Make sure that the currently deployed runtime is the current installed version:
    1. Log on to the console
    2. Click Tivoli Federated Identity Manager > Domain Management > Runtime Node Management
    3. If the value in the first table for the currently deployed runtime does not match the value that is is shown in the second table for each runtime please do the following:
      • Deploy the runtime node, click the Deploy Runtime button. If the button is inactive, the runtime node is already deployed at the current level.
    4. Click on the Publish Plug-ins button, dismiss the message about reloading the runtime at this time
  • Ensure the latest plugins and config are in use:
    1. Click Tivoli Federated Identity Manager > Domains
    2. Select the domain in use
    3. Click properties
    4. Click the second link on panel Domain Information
    5. Click the on the Refresh Management Service button
    6. Click Tivoli Federated Identity Manager > Domain Management > Runtime Node Management
    7. Click on the Publish Plug-ins button again, dismiss the message about reloading the runtime at this time
    8. Click on the WAS System administration > Nodes tab on the left navigation panel
    9. Select the nodes
    10. Click the Full Resynchronize button
    11. Wait two minutes for this to complete
    12. Click Tivoli Federated Identity Manager > Domain Management > Runtime Node Management
    13. Click on the Reload Configurations button

If this does not resolve the issue please proceed to the collect the general TFIM configuration and trace data
