Hardware requirements:

For UNIX® (IBM AIX®, HP, Solaris Operating Environment):

  • 1 GB RAM
  • 300 MB hard disk space for installation
  • Runtime hard disk space depends on size of files to archive, trace, and log

For Linux®:
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 300 MB hard disk space for installation
  • Runtime hard disk space depends on size of files to archive, trace, and log

For Microsoft® Windows®
  • PC (1.8 GHz Pentium™ processor or equivalent, or higher)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 300 MB hard disk space for installation
  • Runtime hard disk space depends on size of files to archive, trace, and log

For IBM i™:
  • IBM i, Model 270, or later
  • 300 MB hard disk space for installation
  • Runtime hard disk space depends on size of files to archive, trace, and log

Software requirements:

The CommonStore for SAP Server and Utility Client require the SAP Java Connector (JCo) Release 3.0.1. The SAP Java Connector can be downloaded from the SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/connectors by following the links to SAP Java Connector -> Tools & Services -> Download SAP JCo Release 3.0.1. For AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, or Windows 2008 you need the 64bit version of this library. For Linux or Windows 2003 you need the 32bit version of this library. To install the SAP Java Connector unpack the content of the downloaded file and copy the contained libraries to the bin directory of the CSSAP Server and/or the lib directory of the CommonStore Utility Client.

The CommonStore for SAP Server requires the SAP RFC library which is available from the SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/swdc by following the links to Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> Additional Components -> SAP RFC SDK. Download the 32bit version of this library and unpack it to the bin directory of the CommonStore for SAP Server. The version of the SAP RFC library must match the SAP version (same or newer) to avoid problems due to changes in password rules (for details see SAP notes 862989 and 1023437).

To enable Archive Link security you also need to download the SAP Security Library (SECULIB) which can be obtained from SAP at http://service.sap.com/swdc by following the links to Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> Additional Components -> SAPSECULIB. For AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, or Windows 2008 you need the 64bit version of this library. For Linux or Windows 2003 you need the 32bit version of this library. Unpack the content of the downloaded file and copy the contained libraries into the bin directory of the CommonStore for SAP Server.

The CommonStore for SAP Server requires the Java Mail API 1.3.1 and the JavaBeans Activiation Framework 1.1.1. These can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/downloads/index.html and http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/javabeans/jaf/downloads/index.html respectively. Upack the files and store the two libraries mail.jar and activation.jar in the bin directory of the CommonStore for SAP Server

Content Manager OnDemand 8.3Content Manager OnDemand V8.3This is the same as the archive server software and because of that, you must install exactly the same version (same package as for archive server). This is required because the Content Manager OnDemand server software contains the interface to CommonStore, which must exist on the computer where CommonStore for SAP is installed. You do not have to configure this server, and the server hosting your archive can be on a different machine. If you want to install the connector on the same system as the archive server, you do not have to install the package again.

CommonStore for SAP does not support migrating the processor architecture from big-endian to little-endian or vice versa when using Tivoli Storage Manager as repository. For example objects that have been archived with CommonStore for SAP running on AIX (PowerPC, big-endian) can not be retrieved with CommonStore for SAP running on Windows (x86, little-endian).

Installation note: On Windows 2008 the 64bit version of the TSM API gets installed by default. The 32bit version needs to be explicitly selected from the custom installation mode (GUI based installation) or with a command line parameter (console based installation).
