A change in DB2 Universal Database V9.5 causes e-mails with textual content equalling more than 1 MB to not be indexed

 Flash (Alert)

Abstract
If you are using DB2® Universal Database™ V9.5 and the text-search function, e-mails with textual content more than 1 MB might not be indexed by DB2 Net Search Extender.

Content
An incompatible change was made in DB2 Universal Database V9.5 that affects e-mails being indexed by CommonStore text-search user exit. When the size of the XML file that contains the textual content extracted by the user exit is greater than 1 MB, no data is returned to DB2 Net Search Extender. To be able to index these e-mails, you need to define the DB2 environment variable DB2_RESTRICT_DDF=true. This variable must be included in DB2ENVLIST on AIX® or Solaris, must be exported in the process that starts DB2, and must be defined as a system environment variable on Windows® before DB2 is started.
If you are considering an upgrade to DB2 Universal Database V9.5 but have not done it yet, make sure to set the DB2 environment variable mentioned in this technote before you start indexing. If you have already upgraded to DB2® Universal Database™ V9.5, then you need to reindex all documents added or indexed after the upgrade occurred.
