Adobe font symbols not available in Insert Symbol dialog box

Question
The Online Help in Lotus Word Pro® indicates that you can successfully insert Adobe® fonts (typographical characters, bullets, dingbats) in your document but the Adobe fonts are not available in the Insert Symbol dialog box.
This situation occurred after an upgrade from Word Pro 9.1 to 9.8. All Adobe fonts were previously available in Word Pro 9.1 using Adobe Type Manager release 4.0. True Type font symbols are available with no problem.
 
Answer
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# GABN5TASQH and was fixed in Word Pro for Windows 9.8.2.

The only place the Adobe fonts are NOT available in Word Pro is in the Insert Symbol dialog box (Text menu --> Insert Other --> Symbol).

The fonts are still available in Word Pro as follows:

-- In the Text Properties InfoBox (Text menu --> Font & Color).
-- In the Font pop-up list on the status bar.
-- In the Windows character map.

If you haven't yet upgraded, you can work around this issue by using one of these alternatives.

TO USE THE CHARACTER MAP IN WINDOWS FOR ADOBE FONT SYMBOLS

1. With the Word Pro document open, from the Windows TaskBar, choose Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Character Map.

2. Highlight one character at a time and click Select to display it in the Characters to copy field. You can click as many characters as you want and they line up in the field.

3. When you finish, click Copy.

4. Back in the document, place the cursor where you want the insertions and press CTRL+V or use Edit --> Copy --> Paste, to paste the characters in the document.
