Sametime 8.0.2 is FIPS compliant with the following exceptions:
- Sametime 8.0.2 Mobile clients are not FIPS 140-compliant.
- Sametime Advanced is not FIPS 140-Compliant.
- Client-to-client file transfer from the Sametime client is not FIPS 140-compliant and should be disabled via server policy settings for a fully FIPS 140-compliant server configuration.
- Sametime Gateway 8.0.2 is FIPS compliant when co-located with its corresponding Sametime server behind the firewall. All communications between the Gateway and remote communities are secured using Transport Layer Security (TLS) certified per FIPS 140-2.
Section 508
The Sametime 8.0.2 client is Section 508 compliant. The Meeting Rom Client, used for desktop sharing and web conferencing, is not accessible to people with low-vision and screen reader users.
Sametime Mobile does not support accessibility features for blind users. The Sametime Mobile client provides text and icon sizing (small, medium, and large) on devices which provide support for that feature.
IBM has tested Sametime 8.0.2 with the following accessibility tools: - Inspect32
- WindowEyes
- JAWS
- Dragon Naturally Speaking
- ZoomText Extra

Accessibility Tools |
| Citrix 4.5 is supported, with some feature differences from native Sametime clients and limitations in capabilities |
| Features | | - The Sametime client on Citrix will maintain separate configuration directories for different users. This means that individual user preferences are maintained and the user experience will be as though the client was installed locally.
- Time stamps for Citrix users will be that of the Citrix server. Since the actual client is running on the Citrix machine, it will pick up the time zone for the Citrix machine’s operating system. There may be Citrix configurations that will redirect the client’s timezone data (Note: not clocktime) to the server, so that the UIM client chat timestamps will be correct according to the client.
- File transfers are possible with the client in a Citrix environment:
- A transferred file may come from within the user’s
workspace on Citrix, or from a local client drive.
- Citrix policy needs to be configured to allow for a user’s client drive to be mapped to Citrix.
- Accessing files from a local drive may have performance implications.
- Once mapped, the Open File dialog from the Sametime UIM client will visually detail the local mapped drives, after the user grants access.
- Citrix administrators should make sure the policies do not allow users to access the drives on the Citrix server. |
| Limitations | | - Voice and Video chats are currently not supported features in a Citrix environment.
- Location awareness is not currently supported for the Citrix client. Location infrastructure requires that the Sametime client application know the user’s IP address. This is not possible when the client is running on Citrix.
- The Screen Captures feature is not supported in a Citrix environment. A Citrix published application is limited to the areas of the screen in which the application is running. Therefore, screen captures are only limited to the buddy list and the chat window.
- Citrix server does not support Microsoft Office Integration in this release of Sametime.
- The Embedded Sametime client in Notes 8.0.1 is not support in a Citrix environment.
- The Web API QuickFind plugin is not supported in a Citrix client environment. Since the first launched Sametime client will bind to port 59449, all subsequent launches of the connect client cannot bind to port 59449.
- When shutting the client down using File Exit, you may receive a prompt to grant access. If access is not granted, it is possible for the user to stay logged on to the Sametime community after the client shuts down.
Instructions for "Installing a stand-alone Sametime Connect Client on a Citrix Server" and "Installing an Embedded Sametime client with a Notes Client on a Citrix server" can be found on the Sametime wiki. |
