Sametime 7.5.1 jar file to add JNDI LDAP provider to JRE

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How to add JNDI provider to the JRE in the Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 client

Answer

The attached jar file adds a Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) provider to the Java runtime environment (JRE) that currently ships with the Sametime® 7.5.1 client.

This new LDAP JNDI provider allows the creation of plugins that can access LDAP directories. This is new functionality to the Sametime 7.5.1 client.

Instructions for installation are:

  1. Detach the ibmldapprov.jar.
  2. Place the jar in the <sametime client install dir>/jre/lib/jclMax/opt-ext directory. This update is client side. The default folder will typically be C:\Program Files\IBM\Sametime Connect\jre\lib\jclMax\opt-ext.
  3. After the jar file has been placed in this directory the Sametime platform will need to be restarted.
  4. After the restart the JNDI LDAP provider will be available.
