• Revisions to time zone offsets and/or Daylight Saving Time (DST) rules require that all server and client operating systems be updated to recognize the new settings (with the exception of Lotus Domino® i5/OS).
  
• If no action is taken, this can result in the operating system as well as some applications being off by 1 hour.

• 2008 INFORMATION: Operating systems and applications previously prepared for this revision do not need to be updated again in 2008. • A hotfix for Notes 6.x releases is available. The hotfix allows you to customize DST rules settings for time zones. Note: The same functionality exists in the shipped Macintosh versions of Notes 6.5.6 and 7.0.2. The Notes Macintosh 7.0.3 release is dependent on the operating system for DST rules.

What does the 'Use the Operating System's Timezone Settings' field in Notes Location doc do? (1091291)

• Relies on the Domino server and the operating system for certain time-related functions.
• Administrators must update the operating system and then correct calendar entries.

• For LEI, DECS, and LSXLC, provides details on which releases are either Domino and operating system dependent, can be controlled via .ini parameters, or require a hotfix.

• Must have its Java updated to revised DST rules.

• Times that appear in chats are impacted. NOTE: The JTZU tool does not address this for all Sametime releases and additional updates can be required.
• Scheduling of meetings will be off. Several steps are required and are detailed in the technote.

• Updating the operating system is all that is necessary.
• Note: There is one minor issue that can be observed when QuickPlace is hosted by a non-Windows Domino server. If users choose the option to display times in a different time zone from the server, the outdated DST rules will be used if the appropriate Domino fix has not been applied. • You must update the operating system, Domino, and Notes. Otherwise time and date calculations could be incorrect.

• The Web viewer module uses Java calendar classes.
• If not addressed, time and date calculations could be incorrect.
• Also relies on the Domino server, Notes clients, and the operating system for certain operations.
• You must update the operating system, Domino, Notes, and run the JTZU tool.

• LMS runs on the JVM that ships with the IBM WebSphere® Application Server.
• Actions are required to address this issue on the WebSphere Server.
