Errors occur if Domino Designer is launched before Notes (8.5.1 Fix Pack 5 on Windows)
After installing 8.5.1 Fix Pack 5 for Windows, Domino Designer will not function properly unless Notes is launched first.
Specifically, when you launch Domino Designer and then attempt to open an application from the Open Application dialog, a java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError will appear:
Additionally, attempts to create a new application could cause Domino Designer to hang. You can avoid the issue by launching Notes before launching Domino Designer. Also, note the following information:
-- You will not encounter this issue if you are using a Notes client only installation.
-- The issue occurs only on Windows platforms running an All Client installation that includes Domino Designer. And even then, the issue will occur only if you launch Domino Designer before you launch Notes.
-- Note that the issue pertains only to Notes Standard on W32; it does not impact Basic, Linux, or Mac clients. Also, the issue will not occur if Symphony is installed.

Note regarding the fix label
You can confirm the fix was applied by examining the basic portion of the version string enclosed in parenthesis in the Help > About window. As shown highlighted below, the string should reflect 8.5.1FP5 SHF12, which is also what shows on the Server Console when log_sessions is enabled.
SPR#BWLU8B8ARH was opened to report that the Java portion of the fix version string is missing the label "FP5". Note, however, that this mislabeling issue causes no impact as the Java version string is not used by anything (e.g., it's not accessed programmatically via LotusScript nor is it accessed via Smart Upgrade).
