Question
Does the NotesĀ® Macintosh client support instant messaging (IM)?

Answer
Starting with the Notes 7.0.2 Macintosh client, Notes instant messaging is supported.
Note, however, that the following features are disabled when using Notes IM on OS X:
  • Blink the message window for new incoming message
  • Collaboration meetings, including audio/video/shared meeting
  • Initializing a chat meeting with one or more attendees
  • Awareness list in chat meeting (as an attendee)
  • Awareness list when adding a user or group or when searching to add an ambiguous name
  • Browsing the directory to add a user or group
  • Embedded buddy lists

Earlier versions of the Notes Macintosh client do not support instant messaging.
