Estimating space for the initial WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer database

 Technote (FAQ)

Question
How much space will I need to create the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer database?

Answer
Use the attached spreadsheet to estimate the initial disk storage required for the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer database.
The amount of space required for the product's baseline database is directly related to two inputs which are provided by the installer via the ISPF interface DMHINSTL Option 0. Specifically, the approximate number of host programs to be analyzed and the amount of distributed source code to be analyzed (when distributed asset support is enabled). The SpaceRequirements_V51 spreadsheet uses the default inputs as shipped with the product: 1000 host programs, 10 MB as the amount of distributed source code, and reflects all table spaces and indexes available in the V51 release. You can use different inputs on the MVS assets tab and Distributed assets tab to see the overall space requirement for the initial WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer database.
  • The current set up for MVS asset related database objects provides four sizing thresholds only: mini (<100 host programs), small (>100 and <= 1000 host programs), medium (>1000 and <= 3000 host programs), and large (> 3000 host programs). So, to utilize the largest allocation for MVS assets in the initial database, enter 3001 in the cell for Number of host programs on the MVS Assets page; to utilize the smallest allocation, enter 99.
  • If distributed asset support will not be enabled for your WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer installation, enter 0 (zero) in the cell for Amount of distributed source on the Distributed Assets page.
  • The results are estimates only based on allocations made in the WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer product.
  • The amount of space required for future growth is dependent on customer metadata. That is, the initial asset inventory, additional (future) inventory collection, and intended product usage (impact analysis, annotations, custom queries, user-defined relationships, etc.).
