Abstract
Your workstation computer and database servers must meet the hardware and software requirements before you can install the query tuner client.
 
 
Content
The prerequisites for installing and using the query tuner client include hardware, software, and data server requirements.

Hardware and operating system
Before you install the query tuner client, verify that your system meets the minimum hardware requirements:

  • 1.5 GB available hard drive space
  • 1 GB memory (2 GB recommended)
  • 2 GHz Pentium® IV processor equivalent or better

The following operating systems are supported for this product:
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x86-32 (SP2, SP3)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional x86-64 (32-bit compatibility mode) (SP1, SP2)
  • Microsoft Windows Vista - 32 bit Business/Enterprise/Ultimate (base, SP1), with the following special requirements:
  • DB2 Optimization Expert must be installed in a directory that is not part of the "Program Files" directory.
  • The logon user must be added to the "DB2ADMNS" group.
  • Silent installation cannot be used.

Software
The query tuner client has the following software requirement on the client platform:
  • No previously installed version of DB2 Optimization Expert of Optimization Service Center for DB2 for z/OS®.

Database server enablement (DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows)

The query tuner client has the following software requirements on DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows servers:

  • IBM DB2 9.5 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows or later

Database server enablement (DB2 for z/OS)

The query tuner client has the following software requirements on DB2 for z/OS servers:

  • IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 8 or later
  • The distributed data facility (DDF) is enabled
  • IBM SDK for Java™ 2 Technology Edition, Version 1.4, or later
  • DB2 Administrative scheduler is enabled (optional)
  • DB2-supplied routines are enabled, including:
    • DSNWZP
    • DSNUTILU
    • DSN8EXP or DSNAEXP
    • OSC_RUNSQL
    • OSC_EXECUTE_TASK
    • ADMIN_TASK_ADD
    • ADMIN_TASK_REMOV
    • ADMIN_COMMAND_DB2 or DSNACCMD
