A new documentation design debuted in the optimized local adapters capability for z/OS

 News

Abstract
The documentation for optimized local adapters for the z/OS operating system is the first IBM WebSphere Application Server documentation to feature a new design and user experience. Specifically, two step-by-step scenarios are included for using inbound and outbound support for optimized local adapters.

Content
Optimized local adapters and the supporting native application programming interface (API) callable services provide an alternative path for enterprise architecture and application development on the z/OS operating system. You can use optimized local adapters to make inbound calls from an external address space to Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) applications that are deployed on a local WebSphere Application Server for z/OS server. You can also use the adapters to make outbound calls from an application that is running under WebSphere Application Server for z/OS to a server program that is running in an external address space.

The documented scenario for using "inbound support" is shown in the following screen capture. In this scenario, you can use optimized local adapters to make inbound calls from an external address space to EJB applications that are deployed on a local WebSphere Application Server for z/OS server.

This screen shot shows an ordered path through the documentation to complete the scenario. All users, especially users on the z/OS operating system, are encouraged to peruse the new scenario-based documentation and provide feedback through the feedback mechanism, which is available in the information center.
