Product Documentation

Abstract

IBM Softcopy Librarian (SCL) was used to manage PDFs, BookManager® Books and shelves from IBM and third-party vendors.
2017 was the last year that publications were made available through SCL.

Content

Using Softcopy Librarian, you could set up and maintain PDF and BookManager book repositories from various sources. You could obtain and transfer product shelves of books and product shelves of PDFs from:
DVD collections, the IBM Publib internet website, or from a local hard disk drive.

IBM's zSystem PDF Collections (z/OS Base and Features, z/VM, and z/VSE) are available from the internet using Softcopy Librarian. Using Softcopy Librarian with the internet as your source enabled updating your repositories with documentation that was made available on a quarterly basis.

The Softcopy Librarian keeps a catalog of all the book, PDF, and shelf files that you send to your repository from any level of a PDF collection, from your local hard disk drive, or from the IBM Publib internet website. When a new level of a product shelf arrives, on a new PDF collection or at the Publib internet website, use SoftCopy Librarian to compare it, and its contents, with the catalog to show whether new or changed since the last level you received. You see at a glance which product shelves on a PDF collection or at the Publib internet website are currently in your repository.

Support for IBM Softcopy Librarian is by email at [email protected].
